Invicta Dynamos welcome Bracknell Hornets to Kent on Sunday aiming to close the gap on leaders Chelmsford Chieftains at the top of NIHL1 South.

Dynamos trail Chieftains by eight points going into the game and defenseman Arran Strawson (above) is keen to kick-off 2016 with a victory.

“We’ve only got the one game against Bracknell this weekend as the Wightlink match is cancelled, but it should be a really good test for us to the start the New Year,” said Strawson.

“We are sat second in the league and in a good position to push Chelmsford all the way to the end of the season and that’s what we aim to do.”

London Raiders host Chelmsford in the D1S Cup on Saturday boosted by the signing of netminder Ryan Bainborough.

The 23-year-old joins London after a brief spell away from the game, but he has plenty of previous experience under his belt with Slough Jets, Chelmsford and Oxford City Stars.

Raiders return to league action on Sunday as they travel to face Oxford.

In D2S, Swindon Wildcats NIHL meet unbeaten Cardiff Fire on Sunday looking to bounce back from two disappointing defeats against Basingstoke Buffalo and Bristol Pitbulls.

Cardiff ran out 8-3 winners the last time the two teams met, but Swindon boss Dan Sullivan believes they can get something from the game.

“Going in to the match, they’ll be massive favourites and we’ll be the underdogs,” said Sullivan.

“They have a big roster and are undefeated, but we’ll try and win the game and we’ll give it a right go.

“The guys are disappointed with the last two results, but they are not ones to let their heads drop and they’re working hard to put things right.

“There’s still a lot of hockey to play this season and we’re still in touch with the right side of the table.

“We’ll do all we can to make sure we’re up there, while continuing to improve as a team.”
