GB’s Senior Women’s team have had their Olympic qualifying campaign confirmed as the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing get nearer.

Cheryl Smith’s side will travel to Gangneung in South Korea in October as they look to claim a place at the games in a year’s time, a competition that was postponed because of the coronavirus pandemic.

It will be GB Women’s second trip to Gangneung in four years after the World Championship Division II Group A was held there in 2017.

On this occasion, they’ll face hosts Korea, Slovenia and a qualifier from the previous round, which will take place in August between Bulgaria, Hong Kong, Iceland and Lithuania in Reykjavik.

GB will begin the four-team tournament on Thursday 7th October against the winner of the Olympic Pre-Qualification round.

Two other Pre-Qualification Round 2 groups in Italy and Poland will take place at the same time, with the winners of each group progressing to Final Olympic Qualification in November.

Once again, there will be three groups and these group winners will join Canada, China, Finland, Japan, Russia Switzerland and the USA at Beijing 2022.
