Karl Subban intends to stop the advertising of casinos and other gambling entertainment. He conveyed his indignation to the National Hockey League. He talked about this topic in his interview on Thursday, which he participated in by phone straight from the airport.

What the complaint is

Karl Subban noted that a couple of decades ago, he and his family didn’t have to worry about commercials and wonder whether kids should watch them. But now, sitting in front of the T.V. screen in the company of his grandchildren and granddaughters, he has to explain to them the ban on watching this or that commercial.

Another indignation of Subban lies in the fact that celebrities and superstars, who have millions of young fans all over the world, are hired to advertise gambling entertainment. His seriousness about the problem is demonstrated by his membership in the Ban Ads for Gambling group, whose members have been pushing for years for the removal of sports betting ads from hockey game broadcasts.

As a rule, advertisements that are broadcast during sports matches encourage players to register on casino or betting sites. Players are often attracted by no deposit bonuses, which are given only for registration and do not require investment. Sometimes children can see such ads and get interested in these kinds of promotions.

Such ads not only attract attention but also normalize gambling. That is why it is so important to fight against intrusive advertisements from casinos and bookmakers during matches.

What has changed

At the time of writing, the National Hockey League has received several appeals. The group has also sent appeals to other associations and television stations but has yet to receive a response. Karl also plans to discuss the issue with his son, who retired from the NHL after last season and now works as an on-air announcer for ESPN.
