Two more players have reached special milestones as Great Britain take on Lithuania in their third game at the World Championship (Division 1B) in Zagreb on Wednesday.

Sheffield Steelers forward Jonathan Phillips and Nottingham Panthers forward Matthew Myers have both received their 75th cap and become the seventh and eighth players to reach the milestone.

A presentation took place in the dressing before the game, led by GB general manager Andy Buxton and Ice Hockey UK general secretary Andy French.

Phillips made his World Championship debut in 2003 and has been captain of GB since 2012.

“The feeling never gets old when you pull on the GB shirt,” Phillips said. “Reaching this milestone is very special.

“I’ve loved my GB career so far and hopefully there are plenty more great moments to come.”

Myers began his GB career in 2004 and has since played in 13 successive World Championship tournaments.

“I’ve loved every moment of my GB career and it is an honour to get to 75 caps,” said Myers.

“The presentation in the room was special and I hope we can crown it with a win this afternoon.”
