Sheffield Steelers were outclassed in their second Champions Hockey League fixture in Austria, with hosts Red Bull Salzburg securing a stylish 8-1 victory.

Penalties cost Paul Thompson’s team in their opening game against HV71 and they were ruthlessly exposed again by the Austrian side who bagged five powerplay goals.

Christoffer Bjorklund’s 26th minute effort was the only consolation on a difficult night for the Elite League outfit.

The Steelers welcome HV71 to Britain on Saturday, 27th August for their next CHL game, with the final group fixture at home to Salzburg on Sunday, 11th September.
