CHALLENGE CUP FINAL 2015 – SHEFFIELD STEELERS 1 CARDIFF DEVILS 2

It was the first one-off Challenge Cup Final and it promised to be a cracker as Cardiff Devils headed to what was called the Motorpoint Arena in Sheffield to take on the Steelers.

For Cardiff, it was a first year under new management with a brand new team under a brand new coach in Andrew Lord while Sheffield Steelers were out to exert some level of dominance after winning the play-offs the year before and were on target for the league title.

But it was the Devils who took their first Challenge Cup since the epic 2006 affair with Coventry Blaze with two goals in quick succession which proved to be the difference.

Lord opened the scoring after 21:07, quickly followed by Chris Culligan, shooting through a crowd on 22:55 to give them the edge.

Steelers set up a tense finish when Cullen Eddy fired through traffic from the blueline with just over seven minutes to go, but Devils held on to trigger the celebrations.
