Coventry Blaze have announced the re-signing of forward Brett Robinson for the 2017/18 Elite League campaign.

The 32-year-old, who has led the club for point-scoring in EIHL competitions in each of the last two years (66 in 62 games and 49 in 60 respectively), will return for a third season with the organisation.

Blaze boss Danny Stewart said: “Its great to have Brett back – I think he’s a fantastic hockey player.

“Hes good all over the ice. He reads the game well, hes smart defensively, he’s on the penalty-kill and he’s good at face-offs.

“We saw his versatility last year too and how important that was when he dropped back and looked like he’d played defence his whole career.

“On top of all that you can’t deny his production. Yes, he got off to a slow start last year but he was nowhere near ready health-wise and there were times when he shouldn’t have been playing. But, credit to him he battled through that and turned it up the second half of the year.

“T.J. Syner and Barry Almeida came in and did a great job for us offensively, but from the day they got here, Brett had more points than them and that’s testament to the production he’s capable of.”

Robinson added: “I’m very excited to be returning to the Coventry Blaze for the 2017/18 season.

“Obviously no one was happy with how our season went last year and I’m coming back to turn things around as a team and personally.”
