Telford Tigers’ defenseman Dan Scott has signed a new long-term contract to remain with the Shropshire outfit until 2019.

The 23-year-old returned to Telford from Slough Jets three years ago and is now a key part of Tom Watkins’ squad.

He said: “Dan is a very important player for us, both in the here and now, and in the future. He’s the kind of player you build a club around, and he isn’t assistant captain for no reason.

“He’s still quite young, at just 23, and has got excellent ability. That means he’s improving all the time and I would like to see him progress even further with us.

“I think Dan can give us more grit and play with more physicality at times, but I don’t want to jeopardise what he brings from a defensive reliability standpoint.

“It’s finding a balance of playing physical and not sacrificing any other part of your game to make a hit.

“Dan works very hard in the summer to keep himself in shape and it’s great to have him in the dressing room. He’s got the kind of infectious character that can be so important.

“He was captain of Great Britain U20 and brings great leadership qualities to the squad. Dan is one of the guys that people go to for support and advice.”
