Colin Shields wins his 75th Great Britain cap tonight against Croatia in the World Championship (Division 1B), while Evan Mosey has been awarded his debut cap.

A special ceremony took place in the dressing room before the game, with the caps presented by Ice Hockey UK general secretary Andy French and a speech given by GB general manager Andy Buxton.

Shields made his World Championship debut in 2001 and moved second in GB’s modern all-time goalscoring list on 34 goals in the recent Olympic pre-qualifiers in Cortina.

Shields, who becomes only the sixth player to reach the 75th-cap milestone, said: “I feel humbled to reach 75 caps and I love playing for GB.

“It was fantastic to get presented with cap in front of the boys.”

Mosey becomes the 399th player to represent GB.

“That was a great moment in the room – I am so honoured to be pulling on this GB shirt and to be awarded my cap,” he said.

Ice Hockey UK general secretary, Andy French, added: “This is a very special milestone for Colin.

“He has been brilliant for GB throughout his career and it is great that his 75 caps has been recognised in this way.

“Evan has fitted into the set-up here really well. He is already a popular player in the dressing room.”
