Paisley Pirates head to Kirkcaldy this weekend hoping to pick up what they hope will be the first of two trophies this season.

The Scottish Cup finalists face Aberdeen Lynx on Saturday in the SNL play-off semi-final, bidding for a place in the final against either Kirkcaldy Kestrels or Dundee Comets.

Pirates’ boss Ian Turley said: “It’s the weekend every team wants to be a part of and we’re in it.”

“Aberdeen pulled off what some might regard as a surprise by knocking out Edinburgh Capitals SNL in their quarter-final, but in a lot of respects that maybe presents us with an even more difficult challenge.

“I think I’m right in saying it’s the first time Lynx have reached this stage in the season, such has been their phenomenal rise in the last couple of years, and they’ll be bringing legions of fans with them for sure.

“We’ve had three very tight games against them this season, including a costly defeat at their place before the turn of the year, and I don’t expect this game to be any different.

“They’re a good side, they’ll give us problems, but we’ ll pose them a few questions so I think it’ll be a great game.

“I’m hoping our own fans will turn out in force as they really can make a vital difference, especially in a tight game when the legs are maybe beginning to get a bit tired towards the end.

“These special events don’t come along every year, and we’ll be going flat out to make every fan proud of us.”
