SNL round-up: Kestrels claim second title in a row

Kirkcaldy Kestrels retained their SNL title after a 5-4 victory at home to Moray Typhoons.

Iain Quinn opened the scoring, with Harry Ferguson equalising for the visitors shortly after, but further strikes from Chad Smith and Graeme Allan put Kestrels 3-1 up.

Daryl Venters made it 4-1 early in the second and the fans started to get that celebratory feeling.

Ferguson again and Kevin Russell pulled the Typhoons to within one, but Sean Cochrane got what proved to be the title winning goal.

Jack Durkacz’s shorthanded finish made it a nervy ending, but the buzzer followed soon after to confirm the Kestrels as champions once again.

Paisley Pirates ended the regular season in second place after a 6-5 win on home ice against Dundee Tigers.

Aberdeen Lynx warmed up for this weekend’s Scottish Cup semi-final against the Pirates with a 13-1 home success against Solway Sharks SNL.

The Dumfries outfit bounced back with an 8-2 win at home to Edinburgh Capitals SNL. Dundee Comets enjoyed a 17-0 home victory against Kilmarnock Storm.
