Kirkcaldy Kestrels moved closer to retaining their SNL title after a 6-2 victory at home to Dundee Comets.

Allan Anderson, Daryl Venters, Conor Duncan, Aaron Robertson, Liam Cassidy and Chad Smith got the goals for the Kestrels who now need a point from their final game against Moray Typhoons to claim top spot.

Paisley Pirates’ 19-0 win at Kilmarnock Storm had given them hope of taking the race to a final day shoot-out, but their 6-5 defeat at Edinburgh Capitals SNL effectively ended the race.

Kestrels head into the final weekend with a two-point lead, while their goal difference is 15 better than the Pirates.

Capitals also drew 2-2 at Dundee Tigers – Sean Beattie grabbed a late equaliser for the visitors.

Aberdeen Lynx stopped in-form Moray Typhoons in their tracks to claim a play-off berth following an 8-1 win in Elgin.

Jordan Leyden (2) and Ross McIntosh (2) topped the scoring for Lynx.
