Aaron Thomson put Lynx back in front and they held firm to claim the trophy in front of 400 travelling fans.

Lynx boss Barry Carnegie said: “I’m absolutely delighted to win a championship for Aberdeen as a club and as a small hockey community.

“The players stuck to the gameplan and it paid off for us all.

“Some of us have won titles before in teams that were expected to win, but this was the opposite and that makes it extra special.

“The support has been awesome throughout and we can’t thank them enough.”
