Paisley Pirates face a tricky test in the SNL this weekend as they travel to Kirkcaldy Kestrels on Sunday.

Pirates defeated the reigning champions 6-4 in Braehead at the end of October, but Player/Coach Ian Turley is expecting a difficult evening.

“Their rink is a notoriously hard one to come away from with a win, and they’ll be keen to teach us a lesson after beating them recently,” said Turley.

“However, these are the kind of games you have to come through to win any silverware, and the win we achieved was reached by a lot of very hard work, so that’s the message I’ll be reinforcing to the players this week.”

“Our home form has been great so far this season, but we’ve only got one point out of a possible four in away matches in the SNL and nobody needs to tell me that kind of record has to improve if we want to nurture any hopes of winning the league this year.

“A win at Kirkcaldy would certainly send out a very clear message to everyone else in the league, as it would also be a double over the League champions, so that’s what we have to aim for.”

Aberdeen Lynx will look to bounce back from last week’s defeat at Paisley with victory at home to Kirkcaldy on Saturday.

The teams go into the weekend on level points, four behind leaders Edinburgh Capitals SNL and one in front of Paisley, and Lynx boss Barry Carnegie is hoping for a better performance against the Kestrels.

“Paisley were high on confidence following the cup win against Edinburgh and were out for revenge for our win in Aberdeen,” said Carnegie.

“I wasn’t satisfied with the way we played and this will be addressed this week in training. We again put ourselves behind the eight-ball by giving our opponents a three goal start.

“We played one bad period and were punished for this. Looking at the results around the league this week it’s clear that any team who can put a run together will be right up at the top of the table. We have three home games in three weeks so our opportunity is now.”
