Sheffield Steelers coach Aaron Fox has outlined what he’s looking for from new signing, defenceman Adrian Saxrud Danielsen.

The Norwegian defenceman will be a new face after agreeing to come to the UK for the Elite Series, signing from Bet at Home League side HC Innsbruck.

And Fox spoke of what the 28-year-old will bring to the Steelers as they announced their first import signing ahead of the competition.

“Adrian is a big two-way defensive who skates extremely well” Fox said. “He likes to play a physical game and prides himself on being a shutdown defenceman.

He has shown some offensive upside in Norway and I expect him to play in all situations when hooking up with us in a few weeks’ time.

“Most importantly he’s a true pro with high character and is coming here with a mindset to win and showcase his game. I’m looking forward to having him here in Sheffield.”

Danielsen’s season in Austria has just ended where Innsbruck failed to make the play-offs so will get the chance to hopefully end 2020-21 on a positive note.

He’s also an international for his native Norway and has played in Denmark, Sweden and in his own country before heading to Austria.

Sheffield Steelers will play their first game in the Elite Series against Nottingham Panthers on Saturday 3rd April at Motorpoint Arena, where all games will be played behind closed doors.
