Canadian forward Taylor Stefishen has signed for Edinburgh Capitals.

The 26-year-old joins the club from Dijon in France where he was the top point scorer last season with 14 goals and 25 assists in 50 games.

Stefishen joined the professional ranks in 2014 with the ECHL’s Elmira Jackals, scoring 40 points in 58 games and earning himself a call up to the AHL for ten games with Texas Stars and Adirondack Flames.

He started the following season with the Jackals, before joining Italian side Sterzing/Vipiteno.

Capitals’ co-owner Scott Neil said: “We’ve been following Taylor’s career for a number of years and we’ve tried to get him once or twice before.

“He comes with a reputation of being a solid two-way forward who can play either wing. He is a creative player who has good vision and versatility.

“He also plays with grit and edge and will stick up for his teammates.”

Stefishen added: “After speaking with the Caps management I think the organisation is heading in a positive direction and it’s exciting.

“I believe this will be much improved Edinburgh Capitals team with the hiring of head coach Dmitri (Khristich) and the talent already signed – I can’t wait to get to work.”
