Coventry Blaze boss Danny Stewart admitted he was unhappy with the manner of Saturday’s 4-3 overtime defeat at home to Fife Flyers.

Ross Venus put Blaze ahead in the first period, but Ryan Dingle (2) and Carlo Finucci made it 3-1 to the visitors by the 41 minute mark.

Goals by Brett Robinson and Shawn Boutin sent the game to overtime, but it was the Flyers who secured the extra point courtesy of Finucci’s second of the game.

“I’m really disappointed – more than several guys for whatever reason didn’t show up,” said Stewart.

“We were very lucky to get a point and we have Brian Stewart to thank for that.

“We showed how we can play the last 12 or 13 minutes of the third, but that second period and start of the third, we come out and pretty much give up two short-handed goals and that’s the game right there.

“Credit to Fife – they played a heck of a game and they deserved the two points.”
