Guildford Flames have added Swedish defender Calle Ackered to their roster.

The 26-year-old has spent his entire career in Sweden, most recently in Division 1 with Ostersunds IK where he scored seven goals with 33 assists in 39 games.

Flames’ boss Paul Dixon said: “Calle is a highly mobile, good skating defenseman whose numbers clearly indicate he can have an impact on our offensive production.

“We play at home on a large ice surface and so do most Elite League clubs, so Calle’s skill set looks to be a very valuable addition to our roster.

“We have done extensive checks into Calle, not only as a player but also as a character off the ice.

“We are very pleased that the time taken to recruit him has resulted in his decision to be part of our first season at the top level.”

Carl Ackered could be one of the most polished d-men on the EIHL circuit in 2017/18 and an absolute ‘snip’ for the Guildford Flames. Last term he was the third highest scorer with Ostersunds IK in the Regionalsied Swedish Third Tier ( Hockeyettan North ) and has accumulated 10 points in 23 matches for Sweden at Under 16, U17 and U18 level. Any player who dresses over 200 times at various levels for the Djurgardens organisation knows something about hockey. Carl has a reputation as a great skater who loves to support his offensive colleagues.
