Sheffield Steelers have announced the signing of Swedish forward Lucas Sandström.
It is the first time that the 29-year-old has played outside of his native Sweden and joins the Steelers after playing 506 league and playoff games in the Allsvenskan.
The former Sweden under 20s international replaces Martin St. Pierre, who left the club last week with immediate effect.
“We have decided to replace him [St. Pierre] with a gritty high energy two way forward in Lucas Sandström. Lucas will be joining the team immediately,” said head coach Aaron Fox.
“He has a nice scoring touch and should bring some much needed two-way play and energy to our group.”
