Telford Tigers have signed high-scoring forward Michal Satek from EPL rivals Manchester Phoenix.

The 29-year-old finished sixth in the EPL scoring charts last season, bagging 34 goals and 44 assists for the North West outfit.

Head Coach Tom Watkins said: “I really noticed Michal when we played Manchester in a pre-season game and thought he had very good speed. Having that explosive speed makes him very hard to play against.

“He has an excellent work ethic, which is very good, he loves to play, and he keeps himself in great shape. I noticed him in every game against Manchester last season, and he put up some good numbers.

“I just like the way Michal plays the game and is always very committed. I wanted to take my time at the end of the season, to see who was available, but he was definitely on my list.”

“The fact that Michal played in this league last season was a big factor in me signing him. I wanted to have a known quantity like him on the team.

“With the import numbers changing next season, rather than bringing guys across, we know what we are getting with Michal. He knows the league and should fit in very well.

“Training and being on the ice every day is something he will definitely enjoy and benefit from. Everyone I spoke to about Michal said he was very hard to contain and play against.”
