Nottingham Panthers have released Head Coach Tim Wallace with immediate effect.

After a series of poor results the club parted ways with Wallace.

They lost five consecutive matches including two 7-2 loses to Belfast Giants, with their last win coming on the 11th of December.

It was these poor results that motivated the club to take immediate action and remove Wallace from the position.

Mark Matheson and Stephen Lee will take interim control of the squad for their games against Guildford and Fife.

Panthers’ Director of Hockey Gui Doucet said: “We have had a run of extremely disappointing results and in a result-based business, the time had come to make a change.

“We are now looking to bring in a new Head Coach, which along with new signings and the return of key players from injury will get us back on track to be a competitive team, every single matchday.”

It seems the fans were unimpressed with Nottingham’s decision and it’s unsurprising considering Wallace’s record.

This includes a second-place finish in the 19/20 IIHF Continental Cup and winning the 2021 Elite Series.

Doucet spoke his sides’ official YouTube channel about the decision, saying: “It was a very hard decision not just professionally but personally too”.

“This is a results-based business, it’s an entertainment-based business and the results just weren’t good enough”.

This now means they’ll be looking for someone new to lead them back to those levels again as they sit in sixth place in the EIHL standings.

After two and a half seasons at the side Wallace will be looking for his next project.

The fans certainly wish him well and according to the club’s official statement so do they.
