Belfast Giants have confirmed Matt Towe has signed a one-month contract with the club.

Towe played in all four of the Giants’ exhibition games and will take to the ice in their Elite Challenge Cup game against the Fife Flyers in Scotland on Saturday.

The 28-year-old played for the Giants during the 2012/13 season, before switching to Braehead Clan for the following campaign.

He spent the next two seasons with the EPL’s Guildford Flames, where he averaged over a point per game.

Player/Coach Derrick Walser said: “I’m delighted to agree terms with Matt – he has impressed throughout pre-season and deserves this short-term deal which has the possibility of being extended.

“From what the fans tell me, I know Matt was a popular player during his previous season with the Giants and I hope he can continue to impress over the coming weeks.”
