Russian ‘D’ man Denis Trakhanov is the latest addition to the Edinburgh Capitals roster.
Trakhanov is a former U18 and U19 international who arrives at the club on the back of a season which saw him finish as the top goalscoring defenseman in Poland’s top division, with 12 goals in 36 games.
From 2011 to 2016 Trakhanov established himself in the VHL, playing 144 games in the second tier of Russian hockey before seizing the opportunity to move to Poland last year with KS Torun.
Trakhanov said: “I had a good year personally in Poland last season, albeit I was disappointed that the team did not have a good year.
“I’m looking forward to a new challenge in Edinburgh, and I have heard good things about the city and the team being created for next season.
“I’ll look to continue from where I left off last season and play hockey I hope excites the Capitals fans.”
Head Coach Dmitri Khristich added: “He’s not a big defenceman physically, but is someone who has a great attitude on the ice and off and wants to apply himself to show that the scoring touch he had last season in Poland wasn’t a fluke.”
