Ian Turner has been appointed as the new team manager of the Great Britain U20 team.

He will undertake his new role in conjunction with his current position in charge of the U18 side.

Turner is no stranger to the GB programme having managed at all levels across both male and female teams.

“Being asked by IHUK to take on the team manager’s role for the GB U20s, as well as continuing the U18s, is a proud moment for myself,” said Turner.

“I originally started as a GB manager taking the women’s team away many years ago.

“Taking all of the men’s GB teams to their various world and Olympic qualifying tournaments have given me a pretty varied background and experience of IIHF tournaments.

“To be asked from the outset to take on the two teams will be a challenge and something I am looking forward to.

“Many of the players who will be in the U20s programme will have come through the U18s, so they will know how I work.”

Turner recorded his 100th game as Great Britain manager at all levels when he managed GB U18 at the World Championship tournament in Korea back in April.

Chair of the GB programme board, David Hand, said: “Ian is an excellent choice for the position of manager of the U20 team.

“His experience of managing GB teams is second to none and he is well respected throughout the GB set-up.”
