All-Star forward Alessio Luciani has signed a one-year contract renewal with the Coventry Blaze, extending his SkyDome Arena stay to a third season.
The Canadian was a standout performer in 2024-25, registering 66 points (30 goals, 36 assists) in 36 Elite League and Challenge Cup appearances.
Luciani ranked third league-wide in point production and claimed a spot on the Second All-Star Team, building on a rookie season that saw him record 37 points (21 goals, 16 assists) in 63 games played.
The 26-year-old joined the Blaze from the NCAA III’s Adrian College — for whom he potted 153 points (54 goals, 99 assists) in 107 appearances.
Analysis: Alessio Luciani extends Coventry Blaze contract
Kevin Moore’s first season behind the bench with the Coventry Blaze was a slam-dunk success.
The SkyDome Arena side took the fight for fourth place down to the final fortnight of the season, playing an exciting, attacking style of hockey that brought the feel-good factor back to the West Midlands — and left the Elite League’s top four feeling uneasy.
When firing on all cylinders, Moore’s Blaze proved capable of beating anyone, any time, anywhere, with top-six scoring a major factor in their winning ways.

Alessio Luciani was one of three Coventry forwards in the top four of the Elite League’s scoring charts, potting 59 points (27 goals, 32 assists) in 54 regular-season appearances and earning a place in the Second All-Star Team.
While Chase Gresock and Nick Seitz were expected to carry a heavy load at the top of the roster, less was expected from Luciani.
The Canadian scored 34 points (20 goals, 14 assists) in 51 regular-season games in his first season with the Blaze — a respectable, yet unspectacular, tally for a rookie out of the NCAA’s third-tier.
‘Luciani’s growth mindset will be a great asset to our group’
“Alessio’s determination to keep getting better has translated into him becoming one of the most dynamic centremen in our league,” said Moore, who coached Luciani for a season at Adrian College.
“He brings great pick skills that help make his linemates better and a grit that allows him to get to the hard areas to score.
“His growth mindset will be a great asset to our group and I’m excited to see him grow as a leader this season.”
Luciani remains an unfinished product, especially on the defensive side of the puck, but his potential to reach greater heights makes him one of the signings of the summer thus far.
The Blaze, as with all of the Elite League’s non-arena clubs, must maximise every pound at their disposal to challenge for silverware.
The Belfast Giants and Sheffield Steelers can afford to swing and miss on a player or two — Coventry can’t.
With that in mind, retaining Luciaini (and beating other teams to his signature) is a major win for Moore and the Blaze — who continue to benefit from Danny Stewart’s decision to recruit him two summers earlier.
“I am so thankful and appreciative to be returning for another year,” said the 26-year-old. “From top to bottom within the organisation, to the fans and everyone else in-between Coventry is top notch. I’m excited to continue to build on what we started last season.”
In every regard, Luciani’s return is a homerun signing for the Blaze.
