Coventry Blaze have announced the signing of American forward Matthew Gleason.

Gleason will turn professional with the Blaze after graduating from the University of St. Thomas in the NCAA.

Before joining St. Thomas, the 23-year-old played three seasons at Colorado College, contributing 27 points in 70 appearances.

It has been confirmed that Gleason will wear #63 for Coventry, who finished fifth in the Elite League last season before losing to Cardiff Devils in the first week of the playoffs.

On their new recruit, Coventry Blaze head coach Kevin Moore said: “Matt is a 200-foot player with great detail to his game.

“He is relentless in hunting pucks and getting to the hard areas. He will be a great fit in our locker room and in our style of play, and I’m excited to have him on board this season.”
