Dundee Tigers’ defender Ian Carstairs praised his teammates’ character after they were knocked out of the Scottish Cup by Dundee Comets.

The injury-hit Tigers lost their semi-final tie 12-4 on aggregate, but Carstairs says the team should be proud of the effort they put in against their local rivals.

“It’s obviously disappointing to drop out of the Scottish Cup at this stage, but we put in a huge effort with a very short bench over the two nights.

“Injuries have had a real impact on us this season and we had a group of guys on the ice playing through pain to try and progress and for that we can be proud – unfortunately it wasn’t to be.

“The damage was done in the first leg where we lost four goals while under penalty. It meant we had to chase the game in the second leg and we just ran out of steam.

“We’ve got one last roll of the dice this season as we face the Aberdeen Lynx in the play-off quarter-finals in a couple of weeks.”
