The Elite League announced that the remainder of the current season was to be cancelled immediately as a result over the ongoing concern regarding the coronavirus pandemic.
We’ve been watching the reaction closely across social media and here’s the pick of what we’ve seen since the news that 2019/2020 was prematurely and officially over.
One player has already got plans…
Sooooooo golf anyone?? ⛳⛳😂😂

Time for the summer signing window to start, albeit early

We like this idea…
Time to look for pro-active solutions with regards to league & club cash-flow.
Have an @officialEIHL ‘Magic Weekend’ to start the season in Nottingham, all 10 teams involved (3 games Saturday, 2 games Sunday). This seasons POFW tickets become valid for this new event.— Jono Bullard (@JonoBullard) March 13, 2020
With the news the NIHL are still following guidelines, this MK player is calling it…
The NIHL is officially the toughest league in the world

Hear, hear…
Main thoughts at this moment are with the players, some of whom will be put on notice and released from the contracts weeks ahead of schedule.

Well said, this man
I want to start a trend here… @cardiffdevils I do not want a refund for the remaining games of the season please use it to help any cash flow issues you may have. I want a team beyond this outbreak. Thank you

And some words from those in the coal face…
Extremely disappointed that this is the way the @officialEIHL has finished, but everyone’s health is more important. Hope everyone has a great summer,

Thanks for your support everyone. It was a whirlwind season, tough to see it end, but the decision is right for everyone’s safety and welfare. To the staff, players, officials and especially the fans, cheers for a great life experience. I hope everyone stays safe. https://t.co/IKYoi6wic8

A huge thanks @Mcr_Storm @Mcr_StormOSC , storm fans & my teammates. I don’t know what my future holds but I do want to continue playing. I feel I have a lot to give the game still & I guarantee I’ll be training hard again this summer to be a difference maker next year. Thx all!

This is also important as clubs are suddenly bringing their end of season plans forward to today
Fans of @officialEIHL stop worrying about your money. Some clubs won't be able to honour players wages or even be able to afford to get them back home. Support your clubs and let them have the extra few pounds. There is also rink staff who rely on wages too you know #think
