Nottingham Panthers won the Elite Challenge Cup after a hard-fought final against Cardiff Devils.

Neither team could find a goal in normal time, with keepers Miika Wiikman and Ben Bowns in fine form, but Evan Mosey’s strike 15 minutes into overtime gave Panthers a 1-0 victory.

Panthers also picked up two points in the league with a 6-1 home win against the Devils – Mosey (2) and Matthew Myers (2) topped their scoring.

Sheffield Steelers moved to the top of the table after a 5-2 win at home to Fife Flyers – Levi Nelson weighed in with a couple of goals.

Braehead Clan’s recent upturn in form continued as they picked up a pair of road victories.

Brendan Brooks and Alex got the goals in Clan’s 2-1 success at Belfast Giants, while Matt Keith and Marcus Gotz were on target in their 2-1 win at Dundee Stars.

Carl Lauzon, Drew Fisher, Brenden Walker, Russell Cowley all scored twice as Coventry Blaze cruised to a 12-4 win at home to Edinburgh Capitals, and Lauzon went one better with a hat-trick in a 6-5 victory in the reverse fixture.

TJ Caig (2) and Patrick Cullen (2) led the way for Fife as they triumphed 8-2 at Manchester Storm.
