Hull Pirates’ Player/Coach Dominic Osman is hoping winning will become a habit after guiding his team to the top of the EPL standings.

Four wins on the spin have put the Pirates at the top of the table, level on points with Telford Tigers and MK Lightning who also boast 100% records.

They travel to face Lightning on Saturday, before returning to home ice the following day to meet Sheffield Steeldogs and Osman (above) wants his players to keep their momentum going.

“Any time you can get four points two weekends in a row is a big thing,” said Osman.

“We had a tough start last weekend, but that’s what I like about this team. They are very resilient and stay calm – there doesn’t seem to be any panic in them.

“We’ve got a good blend of youth and experience and they are complementing each other at the moment. We’ve been able to close out games so far and when you can do that it becomes contagious.

“We have a good squad who are buying in and taking responsibility and being accountable, that’s one thing that’s a huge bonus for us this year.”

Swindon Wildcats host Telford on Saturday, before travelling to Guildford Flames on Sunday, but Player/Coach Aaron Nell has refused to look any further ahead than the game against the unbeaten Tigers.

The Wildcats have won just one of their opening four matches and Nell is desperate to see his team kick-start their season.

“It’s very early in the year but we’ve got to play a proper, proper game on Saturday,” said Nell.

“Telford are very, very good and if there’s mistakes, they’ll smell blood and they’ll punish us.

“I don’t care how well we’ve done against Telford in the last two years – they’re twice the team they were last season and we’ve got to be ready to put a big, big effort in.

“They’ve been scarily good so far and we’ve got to be ready to put a good performance in.

“We’ve got to be ready to fight and I know it’s early, but it’s a massive, massive game for us.”
