MK Lightning closed the gap on EPL leaders Telford Tigers to six points after edging a seven-goal thriller against Basingstoke Bison.

Blaz Emersic, Michael Farn, Craig Scott and Lewis Hook (above) got the goals for Lightning as they secured a 4-3 victory over the reigning champions.

Basingstoke picked up two points with a 3-1 victory at Guildford Flames – Vanya Antonov (2) and Ciaran Long were on the scoresheet for Bison.

Peterborough Phantoms dominated the Sheffield Steeldogs in their New Year double-header, winning 10-2 on home ice and 6-1 in the reverse fixture.

Jan Kostal, Tomasz Malasinski, Phil Hill and Stevie Whitfield were on target for Swindon Wildcats as they ran out 4-2 winners at home to Guildford.

Kostal completed a successful weekend for Swindon with the shoot-out decider in a 2-1 success at Bracknell Bees.

Hull Pirates recorded their third victory in a row courtesy of a 6-3 win at Manchester Phoenix.
