Peterborough Phantoms’ boosted their EPL title hopes with a pair of wins to move within four points of leaders Basingstoke Bison with a game in hand.

Netminder Janis Auzins (above) turned away 29 out of 31 shots for Phantoms in their 3-2 road victory against Bison, while Milan Baranyk (2) led the scoring in a comfortable 7-2 win at home to Hull Pirates.

Bison bounced back in impressive fashion at Sheffield Steeldogs with a 6-3 success – Rene Jarolin (2) topped their scoring.

MK Lightning won 4-2 at Bracknell Bees, but failed to follow up at Telford Tigers as the home side secured victory by the same scoreline.

That result completed a four-point weekend for Tom Watkins’ men after they sealed a comprehensive 9-0 win at Hull – Max Birbraer (2) Jason Silverthorn (2) and Joe Miller (2) were amongst the scorers.

Jens Eriksson’s late empty netter capped a 4-2 success for Guildford Flames at Swindon Wildcats.

Manchester Phoenix lost 7-3 at home to the Steeldogs and they looked on course for another defeat at Bracknell as the Bees opened up a two-goal lead.

Goals by Stanislav Gron (2) and Martin Baranek turned things around for Tony Hand’s team as they recorded a 3-2 victory.
