Basingstoke Bison lead the EPL after a hard-fought victory at home to MK Lightning.

Jordan Cownie edged the visitors ahead early in the second period, but Joe Greener and Tomas Karpov put Bison 2-1 up by the end of the session.

Leigh Jamieson made it 2-2 after 43 minutes and with neither team able to break the deadlock in normal time or overtime, it was left to Ciarian Long to secure the points in the shoot-out.

Lightning’s penalty misery was completed back on home ice the following day as Stanislav Lascek hit the decider for Sheffield Steeldogs in their 4-3 victory.

Andy McKinney, Matt Towe and Jens Eriksson got the goals for Guildford Flames as they sealed a 3-2 home success against Hull Pirates.

Telford Tigers have now lost just once in their last nine games after collecting two victories over the weekend.

Jason Silverthorn (3) and Joe Miller (2) led the scoring in their 8-4 win at Sheffield and Tigers followed up with an 8-3 success at home to Hull – Nathan Salem (2) and Jonathan Weaver (2) were amongst the scorers.

Swindon Wildcats had a mixed weekend winning 4-3 on home ice against Manchester Phoenix, but falling by the same scoreline at Bracknell Bees.

Phoenix bounced back from their defeat at Swindon with a 3-2 win at home to Peterborough Phantoms – Michal Satek grabbed the deciding goal a minute into overtime.
