MK Lightning returned to top of the EPL after an impressive four-point weekend.

Frantisek Bakrlik, Jordan Cownie and Blaz Emersic all scored twice in their 8-4 win at home to Manchester Phoenix, and Lightning followed up with a 4-0 success at Guildford Flames – Bobby Chamberlain (2), Lewis Hook and Leigh Jamieson got the goals.

Peterborough Phantoms picked up a pair of victories against Bracknell Bees, winning 3-2 after overtime on the road and 5-2 on home ice. Bees rounded off a miserable week with a 4-3 defeat at home to Sheffield Steeldogs.

That result completed an excellent weekend for Sheffield who also won 4-1 on home ice against Guildford – Arnoldas Bosas, Lubomir Korhon, Stanislav Lascek and Andrew Hirst were all on the scoresheet.

Rene Jarolin scored twice on his debut for Basingstoke Bison as they cruised to a 7-2 victory at home to Hull Pirates.

Swindon Wildcats staged a remarkable comeback on home ice against Telford Tigers, recovering from 3-0 down to record a 5-3 win – goals by Aaron Nell (2), Jonas Hoog, Adam Harding and Tomas Malasinski secured the points.

The Wiltshire outfit failed to follow up at Hull as Tommi Laine’s strike condemned them to a 5-4 overtime defeat.

Telford bounced back in stunning fashion on home ice against Manchester, as Jason Silverthorn (above) bagged four goals in a comfortable 9-0 victory.
