Mike Crocock joins Flames blueline

Mike Crocock has joined Guildford Flames from the Reading Royals in Pennsylvania for the remainder of the season.

Background

Crocock spent four years skating for Sacred Heart University where he made 130 appearances with four goals and 17 assists.

From here he moved to Birmingham Bulls where he skated 14 times before moving to the Newfoundland Growlers.

It was here he made his first ECHL appearances and he continued in the league for the Reading Royals.

After 21 appearances for the Royals with two assists the blueliner made the move to Sweden.

19 appearances for Tranas AIF and a return to the Royals lead to his move to Guildford Flames.

Guildford Flames

Head Coach Paul Dixon said of the move: “With the loss of Jesper a few weeks ago, we need to fill a roster spot and we think Mike will be a great fit,

“He skates well and can handle play at both ends of the rink and I think some of the guys already know him so hopefully it will help with the quick transition to the EIHL”.

Jesper Alasaari left the club last month to return to his homeland of Sweden for personal reasons.

He left a large gap in the squad which Crocock will be looking to fill with his considerable experience.

The Ontario native spoke of his excitement following the move, saying: “I’m very excited to be joining the Flames! I can’t wait to meet the fans and help the team make progress in the EIHL”.

Dixon confirmed the Defenceman could be in for a baptism of fire against second placed Sheffield Steelers.

“If we can get all the paperwork lined-up he may be in a position to play this weekend, but if not, he is certainly an imminent roster addition”.

The Flames will need everyone they’ve got to face an impressive Steelers side who skated out 5-1 winners over Fife last.
