Deeside Dragons have confirmed the signing of netminder Denis Bell from Manchester Phoenix, but forward Markus Kankaanranta has left the Moralee D1 club.

In addition to icing for Manchester in the EPL, Bell has also spent time with Telford Tigers and represented Great Britain at U18 and U20 level.

Kankaanranta joined the Dragons from Crocodiles Hamburg last summer, but he has now opted to take up an offer back in Germany.

Player/Coach Scott McKenzie said: “I’m really happy to be bringing Denis to Deeside. He’s a gifted netminder that has the potential to be up there with the best in the league.

“He is young but has a great temperament and plays like a mature experienced goalie. Matty (Crompton), Ash (Smith) and Jonah (Armstrong) have been great this year, but Denis adds another dimension to our group.

“He is going to make a great addition to our squad.

“With regards to Markus, we will never deny a player such an opportunity. He has been a great asset to the club and we would like to thank him for all his hard work over the last four months.

“Markus would like to thank the club, the fans and the juniors for time spent in Wales. We wish him well in the future at his new club and welcome Denis to the Dragons.”
