Kirkcaldy Kestrels face an important double-header in the SNL as they look to make an impact on this season’s title race.

The Kestrels travel to Dundee Tigers on Saturday before hosting Edinburgh Capitals the following day aiming to close the six point gap to leaders Paisley Pirates.

Forward Allan Anderson admitted it’s a huge weekend for the team.

“With four points up for grabs and Paisley idle it’s an opportunity to close the gap at the top and one we must take if we’re to be taking seriously as title contenders.

“Nothing less than four points will be enough and we go in to this weekend looking to get our season up and running after a sticky start.

“We need to go to Dundee on Saturday and grind out those two points, and with the Caps to come at home on Sunday we need everyone firing on all cylinders.

Aberdeen Lynx head to North Ayrshire Wild on Sunday buoyed by last week’s 3-3 draw with the Pirates.

The result left Lynx four points behind with a game in hand, leaving Head Coach Barry Carnegie confident his team has what it takes to mount a title challenge.

“It was a fair result in the end – there were spells when they dominated, and there were also spells when we came out really well and took it to them,” he told the Aberdeen Evening Express.

“Overall I was pleased with the performance. We showed we can compete with the best teams in the league, and we’re still unbeaten.”
