Kirkcaldy Kestrels moved up to third place in the SNL after a comfortable 12-2 home victory over Moray Typhoons.

Robin Floyd (2), Martin Simpson, Graeme Allan and Chad Smith (above) put the Kestrels 5-0 in front, before Christopher Johnstone pulled one back for the visitors late in the first period.

Further goals by Smith, Allan Anderson and Connor Duncan put the game beyond the Typhoons by the midway point, although Gavin Millar did reduce the deficit on the powerplay in the 32nd minute.

Robbie Hill extended the lead to seven early in the final session and Smith completed his hat-trick in the 44th minute to make it 10-2.

Adam Farmer added to the tally with four minutes to play, before Floyd bagged his third of the game to complete the scoring.

In the Scottish Cup, Aberdeen Lynx lost 3-1 at Edinburgh Capitals SNL, but their 14-1 first-leg victory ensures they progress into the quarter-final.
