Billingham Stars are teaming up with one of Britain’s leading business organisations to host an event designed to raise the profile of ice hockey in the North East.

Stars’ home game against Sheffield Spartans on Sunday, 28th February, will see the NIHL North club link up with the Swedish Chamber of Commerce for a Swedish-themed game night.

A number of top sporting personalities have been invited to the game which will see the Chamber’s North Eastern Chapter Chairman, Caroline Theobald, together with the Lord Mayor of Stockton and Billingham, perform a ceremonial puck drop prior to the face-off.

Stars’ stand-out performer this season has been Swedish forward Dennis Boström, whose goals have kept the club within touching distance of a place in the end-of-season Moralee D1 play-offs and in with a chance of winning the Northern Cup.

North East car dealership Mill Volvo are sponsoring the event, which will also feature a figure skating show and a demonstration by the Stars’ junior programme.

100 complimentary VIP tickets are available to companies in the North East with Swedish ownership or connections, which are being distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.
