Stevie Whitfield has been rewarded for his reliability on the blueline with a new two-year deal that ties him to the Swindon Wildcats until the summer of 2018.

The popular ‘D’ man has been a mainstay for the Cats over the last five years having risen through the club’s Academy ranks, racking up over 250 EPL appearances.

Player/Coach Aaron Nell said: “It’s great that Stevie will be with us for two more seasons. He’s a massive part of our club and I believe he’s still got a lot more to give.

“He’s one of the hardest working players in the league and he has improved every year he’s played for the Wildcats.

“He’s another great person that I want in the dressing room and I’m delighted he’s going to be a big part of our future.”

Whitfield added: “I’m delighted to have signed for the club for another two years. With some of the key players Aaron has got on the books, I’m looking forward to getting back on the ice already.

“Last year was tough with all the turmoil during the first half of the season, but we managed to finish relatively strong and we will look to take that into next season.

“The support in Swindon is fantastic and that is a major reason why the decision for me to re-sign each year is an easy one.”
