Scott Conway’s contract extension has been signed — the livewire forward will skate a fourth season with the Belfast Giants.

The 30-year-old authored his third consecutive point-per-game season last term, recording 57 points (28 goals, 29 assists) in 54 regular-season appearances.

“We’re very pleased to have Scott back for next season,” said Giants head coach Adam Keefe.

“He’s been a key part of our success in recent years and his work ethic, on and off the ice, make him an invaluable asset to the team. Cons is a proven competitor and having him commit to another season is a big statement about where we’re headed and the standards we’re setting from the outset.”

Conway, the winner of seven trophies across the Elite League’s various competitions, has 290 points (126 goals, 164 assists) in 205 career games for Belfast.

Before entering the professional ranks, Conway was a standout performer in the NCAA with Penn State University and Providence College, recording 101 points (50 goals, 51 assists) in 153 appearances.

The Basingstoke-born forward graduated into the ECHL in 2019 — and went on to produce 55 points (30 goals, 25 assists) in 84 games for the Orlando Solar Bears, Atlanta Gladiators, and Allen Americans.

Conway joined the Giants for the first time in 2021, recording 78- and 90-point seasons before joining HK Dulka Trencin.

In his only Slovak Extraliga season, Conway narrowly missed the point-per-game mark, with 39 points (14 goals, 25 assists) in 42 outings.

The left-shot centre rejoined the Giants last summer and played a crucial role as Keefe’s side won the Challenge Cup and regular-season title.

Analysis: Scott Conway remains one of the Elite League’s best

Scott Conway tweeted three words in the aftermath of his contract extension announcement — “addicted to winning.”

And the internet responded accordingly, with Giants fans loving Conway’s showmanship and his critics rising to chomp on the bait.

Aside from being an elite Elite League point-producer, Conway is a gifted — albeit equally susceptible — agitator, constantly getting under the skin of his opponents.

It’s a major part of why the Giants love him and were so determined to bring him back for a fourth season at age-30.

There is no denying Conway’s impact on the ice.

With seven trophies in three seasons (that’s three league titles, three Challenge Cups, and one playoff crown — if we’re counting…), he is one of the Elite League’s biggest winners.

While his output has regressed in recent years, falling from 90 points in 2023-23 to 57 points last term, it’s worth stating that those 57 points saw him finish fifth leaguewide in point-scoring.

“There’s no place I’d rather be,” Conway said of his decision to re-sign in Belfast.

“Belfast is a special city and this organisation means a lot to me. From the moment I arrived, the fans have made me feel like one of their own. I’m proud to wear the Giants jersey and incredibly motivated to help bring more success to this club.”

“We were pleased to win two trophies last season, but it didn’t end the way we wanted… we’ve got unfinished business for sure.”

The Giants have announced only two signings — Keefe, as head coach, and Conway.

If it wasn’t already clear, that’s Belfast setting the tone. Again.
